Central Giant Cell Granuloma (also known as CGCG) is a rare, bone eating tumor. Unfortunately a fellow classmate of mine at Iowa State, Kaitlyn O’Toole, has been effected by this. Because her lower right jaw has been invaded she has had to have seven teeth removed and a large amount of the bone in her jaw removed as well. Thankfully the tumor is gone, however there are still challenges ahead. She still needs to begin the process of the reconstruction of her jaw but has since learned it won’t be covered by insurance.
With the help of many extremely talented artists, giantSTRENGTH was created.
Kaitlyn’s friends are donating and selling artwork with hopes to raise $40,000 to cover the bone graft and implants needed for reconstruction.
