I go through hair timelines… weird I know haha! When I was in 5th grade I wanted my hair to look like marykate and ashley (yeah that didn’t work so well) I was all into my curly long hair in 8th grade but wanted highlights for 9th grade, I knew I wanted my hair long for senior spring break and prom but short for graduation and the start of college, I then decided I wanted it long for college graduation and to keep it long for my wedding but as soon as the wedding was over I wanted it short again! I have no future hair timelines ahead of me… I only planned this far haha but so far i’m loving it short! I’d say the main reason is because of how easy it is- before yesterday I had A LOT, I mean A LOT of hair. It was such a pain to deal with that I pretty much wore it in a bun every day…
I knew I wanted to donate my hair to locks of love but what i’m really excited about is not only was I able to donate my hair but I was able to donate it 4 times… like I said, I had a LOT of hair! Pretty cool that my hair will create 4 wigs for disadvantaged children with medical hair loss. I wish I knew who was receiving my hair but I hope it brings them happiness!
“The children who receive these hairpieces have lost more than their hair; they suffer from a loss of self. Many children have been teased by classmates and/or embarrassed by the attention they receive because of their hair loss. They often will withdraw from normal childhood activities such as swimming, going to the mall or even playing with their friends. While wearing a hairpiece is certainly not a cure for these children, it can help restore some of the normalcy to their everyday lives that most of us take for granted. It is our goal to help provide a foundation on which they can begin to rebuild their self-esteem.” -Locks of Love
I highly recommend donating your hair if you ever do a drastic cut- I for one am not very attached to my hair and love knowing that some child who is lacking the self confidence from hair loss can benefit from this. TOTALLY worth it.
