We had the opportunity to collaborate with California Closets after we moved into our new house this winter and we’re over the moon with the results! We worked with the talented Anna Abrams from California Closets Southdale on three spaces.
The first space is the Playroom! This is the very first room you see at our house as it’s right off of the entryway. I know most people use this area in their house as an office (which would actually be useful as I work from home), but I wanted a play area on the main floor so the kids could let loose and I could still be nearby working, cooking, cleaning etc…
I wanted a practical but pretty playroom. I knew storage was the #1 most important part of the room. Our kids are 4 and 1.5 and have A LOT of toys. I try and keep toys organized in bins and wanted them to have easy access but also have it be easy to clean up and put away. I talked to Anna about wanting to build cabinets across the wall but keep them at the kid’s level so they could not only reach everything but so we could also put some items on top. Anna did such a beautiful job at matching the cabinets to the rest of our house and transformed the room with a full wall of toy storage! I love that there are adjustable shelves inside so it can accommodate all the different size toys! The height of the cabinets is perfect for young kids to play with their toys and the surface is SO easy to clean from all their sticky toddler fingers!
Although we imagine this to be a playroom for quite some time, I love that the cabinets are something that can grow with us and the house! Someday when they outgrow all of their toys (aka never because i’m making them stay little forever haha!) I think the room could become a big kid hang out area, a homework room, an office for me etc… and the cabinets will remain a great source of storage for all of our future needs!
A big thank you to California Closets, California Closets Southdale and Anna Abrams for working with us on this fun project!
Stay tuned for a Mudroom reveal and Sailor’s bedroom!

Before Photo:
The before and after photos were terrific but not every home comes complete with a tiptoeing little beauty reaching the higher shelves. Really very attractive and well thought out. Thanks for all the cute photos.
